How can we stimulate design with sustainable materials and apply circular practices in Norway?

The materials, design, craftspeople, technologies, and processes we choose to build our neighborhoods have a tremendous impact on our quality of life. Materials can either breathe life and energy into a space, or they can diminish our senses, connection and well-being.

Novooi, together with Æra and Oslo Business Region, hosted an inspiring exhibition and conversation between designers, manufacturers, urban planners, and startups about working together to build better neighborhoods based on circular design, innovative technologies and natural, sustainable resources. Some of the most forward-thinking actors in the industry exchanged ideas on how Norway can become a global leader in reducing carbon emissions.

The exhibition highlighted how sustainable materials are developed and how waste can be transformed into functional, handcrafted objects from a range of materials such as mycelium, wood and recycled glass to concrete and wool alternatives. Take a look at innovative circular solutions developed by local, leading edge startups, designers and manufacturers.
