Studio Sirkel is Norway's only glass studio that creates their products from 100% recycled glass. Their drinking glasses and lamps are blown from used wine bottles and jam jars.

The founders, Heidi Skofsrud and Gunhild Solberg, hope to motivate the industry to increase the usage of recycled glass in product design. Norway is a world leader of glass recycling. As much as 95% of all soft drink and wine bottles are delivered for recycling and become new products. Glass can be recycled an infinite number of times without losing its quality. By using recycled raw materials, we reduce our climate footprint and take care of resources we already have.

In 2018, Sirkel contributed to the establishment of Restaurant Rest in Oslo. Rest is a "high-end" restaurant that is based on food that would otherwise have been thrown away. Sirkel contributed tableware for the restaurant made from 100% recycled glass from Norwegian households, in collaboration with the design studio Odd Standard, and Formbar Glassverksted in Haugesund, which produced the tableware.

In the spring of 2021, Heidi and Gunhild’s vision of establishing a glass factory in the old industrial premises at Vaterland, was achieved. Studio Sirkel accepts all glass and metal packaging from households throughout Norway to the facility at Øra in Fredrikstad. 100% of the sorted glass is turned into new products.
