Description
For more than 100 years, Høvik Lys was the country's largest manufacturer of lighting. Jonas Hidle, Kjell Munch and Arnulf Bjørshol were the company's foremost designers. For five decades, they made their mark on Norwegian lighting culture. Developing lamps for Oslo City Hall was an extensive and difficult task. The designers had to adapt the lighting to the different character of the rooms. Most prestigious were the 11 giant chandeliers for The John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts, a gift from the Norwegian government. Most important, however, was the consumer market. Akershus, Viking, Dovre and Jonas were all lamps that went down well.
