Heritage blanket, Plesner Patterns
Design Plesner Patterns
The Heritage Blanket is now featured at the National Museum in Oslo, Norway
A light and soft wool blanket with thin and delicate wool, woven at Grinakervev in Hadeland, Norway. The use of older weaving techniques, such as the waffle weave and herringbone, have been chosen to create a contrast between the classic and the modern.
The ornamentation has been brought into our time and the winding idiom has been continued. The blanket gives you an opportunity to "get lost" in the pattern and let your thoughts drift away into a different time.
"There is a grandfather clock at my grandmother's old cottage that has fascinated me for all these years. It exudes a calmness and purity. I want to bring these traditional ornaments to our time and give them new life in a different form. To honour the ornamentation of the past, I have chosen to fill the blanket with calming colours and textures to stimulate as many senses as possible."
