Silja Axelsen works with sculpture and installations, mainly in clay, and has joined Novooi as a featured artist for our exhibition Above and Below, a part of Oslo Open. Her works plays with the established identities of the world that surrounds us.
Through her works, she seeks to investigate the mechanisms that shape our everyday gaze. Her point of departure is based on a curiosity about how our perception of reality, valuation and gaze to a large extent stems from the cultural space we exist within.
