Volver and Norwegian painter Andreas Siqueland have developed a series of colourful flat weaves Fields & Forests, based on his full-size acrylic paintings.

The Collection is a part of a larger art project Living with It!, where the artist uses his own home as a site of investigation of future living conditions due to the effects of the climate change. In his version of the future, the Nature takes back its original habitat, that we, humans had once taken over.

The collaboration between Andreas and Volver has started in 2019 with three designs. The series was extended with four new designs in 2021.

The designs represent different nature and weather conditions, fields, forests, water, sunshine, storm and invite Nature in our homes. His style is free, open, and rhythmic.

The expanded collection was launched Fall 2021 at the multi-media exhibition Living with It! at Kristians and Art Hall. The exhibition was a replica of artist’s home with room structures, covered from floor to ceiling with paintings, sketches and textiles, including large scale rugs by Volver.

“Some time in the future when the water levels have risen and the seasons no longer shift, the red house in the country was taken over by the surrounding landscape. Water had cracked open the cellar wall and in with the wind flew in leaves, grass and small twigs. Over time the cellar was filled with the decomposing material, which soon became a nursery for small plants. With the warmer climate, the plants grew fast and soon they began to explore the different rooms of the house. From the roots in the cellar, trees grew up along the walls. The floor became the carpet of fields and forests.”
