Plesner Patterns is a contemporary surface patterns studio run by Kiki Plesner-Löfroth, a Norwegian textile and wallpaper designer. She works analogue with traces of the human touch. Through her patterns she invites the viewer to enter a different state of mind, drift off into those precious everyday moments.

From Ordinary to Extraordinary

“When you see beauty in the everyday, the ordinary becomes extraordinary. This philosophy is clearly demonstrated in Kikis designs and is a hallmark of her portfolio. When you look at her work, you might ask yourself what you re really seeing. She uses unexpected items like broken eggshells or leftover play dough to make elegant, surprising patterns.

From eggshells that were crushed by her children to a charming Egg shell pattern. Moss from the forest floor transforms into her stunning Star Moss fabric.”

Patterns that take you places

A lot of Plesner Patterns work is inspired by nature: moss from the foggy mountains, jellyfish clusters and dried flowers. “I am intrigued by the Biophilic design approach. The importance of bringing nature into our homes. Biophilia literally means 'an innate and genetically determined affinity of human beings with the natural world'. Biophilic design, quite simply, makes us happier and healthier by increasing our connection with the natural world, even indoors. I like the idea of creating this connection through nature inspired patterns. Playfully inspire the eye & thoughts to wander, just as in nature, and thereby getting in touch with our inner visdom” – Kiki Plesner-Löfroth

Alongside doing collaborations with other companies, Plesner Patterns offers a small exclusive product rage of textiles and wallpaper. Besides ready-made patterns, Plesner Patterns also offers custom patterns. Kiki wishes to enrich peoples everyday with optimistic unexpected patterns, through a lush Scandinavian expression.

In 2020 and 2021 Kiki Plesner-Löfroth was chosen to participate in the Norwegian Presence exhibition—created by DOGA, Innovation Norway, and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs—to showcase Norwegian design on an international arena.
