Ida Hagen
Ida Hagen is an Oslo-based handweaver, artist, and designer with a lifelong passion for textiles. She completed her textile education at Capellagården in Sweden in 2022.
Her work is the result of exploration and experimentation with color, material, technique, and texture. In her practice, she navigates the space between art and functional objects, mastering various techniques from weaving and knitting to spinning, felting, and dyeing. As a colorist, she is deeply attuned to the power of color and its impact on us all, a focus that she consciously integrates into every aspect of her work. Her creations have been exhibited in Norway, Sweden, Italy, and South Korea.
As a second-year student at Capellagården School of Crafts in Sweden, Ida Hagen chose to delve into the traditional weaving technique known as "halvdreiel"—a simplified overshot pattern based on tabby weaving, where pattern threads float over and are regularly anchored to the warp. While sitting at the loom, exploring colors, testing patterns, and experimenting with materials, a gradient pattern unexpectedly emerged. Fine lines of fiber slowly thickened before gradually fading out again. This new expression became the foundation for the design of her Fiber Lines textiles, creating a dialogue between color, material, and time.
