During our lives we all live on a scale between frenzy and coma. Sometimes we feel brave and curious. We want to step out of our comfort zone and challenge ourselves, whether it concerns career, leisure interests, lifestyle, clothing style or interior design. We may feel like breaking free and simply going a little crazy. Other times it is the opposite. We need a break. During the break, we seek more peace and harmony. More coma.

In the span between crazy and coma, we find the satisfaction of life. At Amokamok, we want to offer you products that suit you and your life. Whether you want it minimalistic or maximalist, calm or playful, frenzy or coma. We hope we can inspire you and challenge you to explore your scale.

Organic, ecological and luxurious cotton

There's a reason we like cotton so much. Cotton is soft, absorbent and breathable. It is also washable at high temperature and easy to care for. Unfortunately, cotton is also the worst when it comes to global environmental impact. That's because growing and producing conventional cotton requires huge amounts of water. In addition, the pesticides and chemicals used in cotton production are harmful to the health of both the workers and the ecosystem.

In a poorly organized market, we need help to quality-assure that production runs properly. In Norway, it is legal to write "organic" on the label, even if only a small part of the material originates from organic farming. In order for our customers to be completely sure that our cotton is actually organically produced, we have chosen to use only GOTS-certified organic cotton in our cotton textiles.

What is GOTS?

GOTS stands for GLOBAL ORGANIC TEXTILE STANDARD and is an internationally recognized certification scheme for organic fibres. What is so good about GOTS is that they ensure environmental and health requirements for the entire production process, from cultivation, spinning and dyeing to packaging and transport.

In practice, this means that all suppliers and subcontractors must document that they meet GOTS' strict environmental and health requirements throughout the entire production process. Social criteria and safety for workers are also included in the requirements.

From Portugal to Norway

Our cotton is dyed in Portugal and printed in Spain. The bed linen is sewn together in Portugal. A textile product bearing the GOTS label must contain at least 70 per cent certified organic fibres. The cotton in our bedding is 100 percent organic cotton.

The criteria for obtaining GOTS certification also apply to the use of dyes. There are also strict restrictions on accessories such as zips, buttons and other textiles used in the product.

In addition to GOTS, our bedding is marked with the OEKO-TEX® standard, which confirms that no allergenic or carcinogenic dyes have been used in production.
